What it is
The lighting cable track system is an elegant and versatile solution for arranging our Gold Moon, Jackie O, and Spot Light pendants in spaces with even complex architectural features.
Where to suggest it
This system can be chosen for standard and flat ceilings purely for aesthetic reasons related to the design of the cable track. However, it becomes crucial in situations where the installation space has particular constraints, and it is not possible to mount our standard bases or individual pendants for plasterboard ceilings. It can be an optimal lighting solution for a room, a dining table, or a specific area in rooms with very high ceilings, exposed beams, frescoed vaults, under skylights, or where you want to keep the ceiling visible rather than covering it.
Technical notes for installation
The system operates on extra-low voltage (ELV) and can be anchored to both the ceiling and walls thanks to a swivel griplock (360°+ 90°) in a satin steel finish. The lightness of the Catellani & Smith cable track is made possible by a cable containing aramid, made to our specifications, allowing for minimal section while maintaining the necessary electromechanical characteristics for installation. The cable track consists of a minimum of two cables installed parallel at a distance of 20 cm from each other, with a recommended maximum length of about 800 cm. To power the cable track, we provide a base containing the driver and related connections. The pairs of cables can then be repeated to cover the required surface area from a single power source. The pendant heights are predefined and not adjustable, but they can be positioned anywhere on the system using crocodile clamps, allowing them to be moved even after the initial installation. During the design phase, we are always available for layout suggestions based on specific needs.
