Catellani & Smith concludes 2023 by winning the LIT Lighting Design Awards for the Cono lamp, which, thanks to its sculptural design and distinctive technology, is among the winners in the Lighting Design of the Year 2023 category.
Each year, the LIT Lighting Design Awards celebrate the creativity and innovation of the lighting industry’s best products and designs, which are evaluated by a jury panel composed of experts that includes influential figures in lighting design, academics, media representatives and other experienced professionals. Cono‘s victory is added by another award, this time for the Sfera wall lamp, which has received an Honourable Mention in the Lighting Product Design category.
Cono stands out for its elegant tubular structure with a distinctive cone shape and an impressive height of over two metres, making this lamp a true sculpture in light. At both ends, Cono features different light sources. The main one, consisting of a high-efficiency COB LED and an asymmetrical lens and, is located at the top of the lamp, spreading light up towards both the ceiling and the wall, while a 1W LED gives off a subtle sliver of light from the lower end of the lamp.
What makes Cono even more special is the choice of its finish – always handmade – which combines a bright shade of blue with the golden coloured leaf covering the irregular surface inside the lamp.
