Ensō Shines at the Light Middle East Awards 2024

Another international accolade is added to the awards recently won by Catellani & Smith. This time, the newly designed lamp “Ensō “ has been awarded the Decorative Lighting Product of the Year at the tenth edition of the Light Middle East Awards 2024.

The award ceremony took place on January 18th at the prestigious Palazzo Versace in Dubai, during the final day of Light + Intelligent Building Middle East, the Middle East region’s major trade fair dedicated to lighting and building technology. The event brought together leading figures in the design and technology of the lighting industry to celebrate the most innovative products and projects.

In this panorama of excellence, Ensō, the lamp-sculpture by Catellani & Smith inspired by the ancient art of Japanese calligraphy, stood out. Ensō is the perfect circle in its imperfection; born from a period that Enzo Catellani spent in Japan, during which he discovered and embraced the beauty of a slow and immediate gesture that he transferred from the brush to three-dimensionality.

Ensō, features a hand-painted blue circle with an irregular surface, supported by a brass base. The LED light source, for which an innovative patent-pending wireless connection and distribution system was applied, is concealed behind the structure of the circle, creating a magical light effect that spreads onto the wall.
