Ensō wall lamp

Ensō wall lamp

The aesthetics and symbolism of Ensō extend into new dimensions. Originally conceived as a table lamp, Ensō is now also available as a wall-mounted version, available upon request. Named after
the most emblematic grapheme of the ancient Japanese calligraphic art (shodō), Ensō, in the philosophy of the Land of the Rising Sun, is believed to initiate an introspective dialogue through its spontaneity and simplicity, engaging both the creator and the observer.

The circular brushstroke is full and substantial, gradually fading until the circle remains open, symbolizing the promise of continual evolution.
The craftsmanship and extensive experience of Catellani & Smith artisans have succeeded in translating this movement into three-dimensionality, creating a dramatic lamp that emits a soft lighting onto the wall where it is mounted. The large aluminum structure features an irregular surface – achieved through a hand-made process unique to Catellani & Smith’s production – and it
is hand-painted with pigments that feature a deep, intense blue, while the LED light source is discreetly hidden behind the structure.

Ensō wall lamp is a sculptural piece that personalizes the space in which it it installed, engaging the user with its elegant symbolism, combined with a captivating emotional light.
Nevertheless, technology is seamlessly integrated into this creation, as the lamp is equipped with a Bluetooth remote control, allowing for the adjustment of light intensity, as well as turning it on and off. This functionality can also be managed directly from a smartphone via a dedicated app.
